Database Marketing Strategist

The Database Marketing Strategist role is responsible for the strategic use of the database marketing principles of segmentation, targeting, list selection, testing and analysis to achieve business objectives and improve the effectiveness of marketing programs. This is an end-to-end function including consulting/strategy and execution, from the planning stage until the launch of the marketing campaigns.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Participate in planning and strategy sessions and apply knowledge of campaign data planning process
  • Develop end-to-end data strategies in collaboration with marketing teams
  • Develop specifics of  target audience, pull necessary data and prepare final lists for marketing professionals using available software and query language skills;
  • Interpret and translate data in business and marketing terms and vice versa
  • Understand and integrate disparate data sources, perform database profiling, contact gap analysis, Database health assessments
  • Develop and implement data acquisition and data quality improvements
  • Understand, promote and utilize predictive modeling in segmentation and execution efforts, and test results to drive continuous improvement
  • Enable other members of workgroup to execute data tasks for a campaign (list generation, audience counts, audience segmentation, list details, review and validation)
  • Perform analysis to develop actionable insights: touch and response analysis, lead/win post campaign analysis, database quality (data audit)
  • Executive presentations including recommendations for change to improve results
  • Communicate effectively in a matrix environment and make complex database topics easy to understand

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Marketing, Math, Statistics, Business Information Systems, Economics or a related field; Master's degree a plus
  • More than 2 years of work experience in database marketing, IT, Marketing or any related field;
  • Experience in supporting databases or high reporting for a marketing preferred
  • Direct marketing, database marketing knowledge
  • Business analytics; ability to summarize analytical data into user-friendly reports translating highly technical, detailed data into appropriate reports and recommendations
  • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management applications
  • Good SQL database language querying skills
  • Strong proficiency in Excel
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • First class organizational skills
    • Good team player with positive “can do” attitude
    • Language skills: English
  • Experience working with campaign management applications and business intelligence tools are preferred. DB2 knowledge is a plus.
